A big mistake I think every single entrepreneur has made at some point in their business (especially at the beginning) is not getting specific enough.
If you’re attempting to target anyone, and everyone is a potential customer, your business will never be known for anything. Here’s the good news:
When you nail down exactly who your customer is and become super specific in telling them exactly what problem you can solve for the, you business will grow wings and fly.
Ask yourself “What problem do I want to be known to have the solution for?” A solution to a problem is the only thing people will actually type in their credit card info and pay for. The more specific your offer is, the more likely someone is to buy it.
Imagine this:
Scenario 1: You and your friends are out at a restaurant. You just finished up dinner and the waitress comes over to your table and says, “Wow, you guys really cleaned up. Did anyone leave room for dessert?” I would estimate that’s there about a 10% chance someone’s gonna say “Yeah sure, what’s my options?”
Scenario 2: Your waitress comes over and says, “Wow, you guys really cleaned up. We have a gooey chocolate cake, if anyone left room for dessert.” I would say the chances someone gets the desert just went from 10% to 20% just like that.
Scenario 3: Your waitress says, “Wow, you guys really cleaned up. The chef makes a gooey chocolate cake once a month and there are 10 slices. Has anyone left room for dessert?” The odds just went from 20% to at least 50%.
Scenario 4: Your waitress says, “Wow, you guys really cleaned up. I gotta tell ya the chef makes a gooey chocolate cake. He only makes it once a month and there are 10 slices left. I recommend that the 6 of you get 2 slices and each of you get a couple bites. Can I bring that to your table?” You are up to a 95% success rate!
So, if you tell your audience, “Hey I’m a business coach.” That’s the equivalent of “Did anyone leave room for dessert?”
But if you say “It is so frustrating to pour your soul into your business and see no growth. I give you the tools and guidance to bring in new clients, hit new income goals, and gain confidence. I have an easy-to-follow group coaching program that teaches you everything you need to know to give your business wings and fly.” your audience will actually pay attention to you and your success rate will skyrocket.
You also need to make sure you’re defining your product. What do you offer? Just like with saying “gooey chocolate cake” instead of saying “dessert.”
Make this simple tweak in your business and the perspective you have on it. It will not only make things easier on you but also speak to the desires of your ideal customers.
Ensure your brand and website do their job to catch your dream customer’s eye, increase leads, hit new income goals, and take your business to a whole new level. Leave it to the pros. Take the first step towards your dream life!
